OBITUARY:
Eleanora Galanti, age 101, died Monday, July 26 in Atlanta. A member of Congregation Or VeShalom for 80 years, Mrs. Galanti remained an active and devoted participant in her beloved congregation until the age of 95. She was also a member of several other Jewish organizations. She was the last surviving member of her seven brothers and sisters and her penny poker game. She loved cooking, sewing and crocheting afghans for her family. Mrs. Galanti was preceded in death by her husband, Nace Galanti and son, Isaac Nace Galanti. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Tillie and Albert Tenenbaum, and daughter-in-law, Vivian Galanti Porter and her husband Bill Porter, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The family is grateful to the William Breman Jewish Home for their caring and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Congregation Or VeShalom (1681 N Druid Hills Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30319-4170) or the William Breman Jewish Home (3150 Howell Mill Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30327-2108). Tilly, I dont know of a more devoted daughter. I dont think there was a day on Grandma's life that she was not visited by a family member. It was obvious to see that your children and nieces and nephews followed your foot steps as they showed her so much love in their Sundays and wednesday visits. Your devotion to her is a testament to the kind of family Mrs Galanti raised to become such vibrant members of the Atlanta Jewish Community. I hope that you will find comfort in the days to come capturing memories of earlier years of her life .
