OBITUARY: Retired Atlanta furniture executive Irving “Irv” Daniels, aged 89, of Woodstock, passed peacefully on January 29, 2010, after a brief illness. A native of Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Daniels earned his bachelor's degree from City College of New York before serving as a Master Sergeant in the US Army and participating in the invasion of Okinawa. After WWII, he earned his master’s degree in business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In 1961, after excelling as a furniture buyer for RH Macy and Company in New York City, he was recruited for the position of senior buyer by Rich’s Department Store in Atlanta, where he later directed the furniture division as the Vice President of Merchandising. During his extensive career, he also consulted within the furniture industry, founded Folio, a retail furniture store in Sandy Springs, and co-founded with his son Rockers Unlimited in Kennesaw, which continues to operate under the name of The Comfortable Chair Store in Roswell. Mr. Daniels is survived by his wife of 61 years, Harriet, daughters Lois Wolkis of Roswell and Ilene Daniels of Marietta, son Craig Daniels of Roswell, and three grandchildren, Amy Wolkis, Melissa Wolkis, and Sarah Daniels. He was preceded in death by his beloved siblings, Miriam and Leon.
