Stanley Marshall Ney, 93, native of Atlanta, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 26, 2017. He was born May 14, 1924, to Lillian and Abraham Ney, who came to this country from Russia. Stanley grew up with his beloved older brother Bobby in their home on Park Drive, near Piedmont Park, and attended Boys High. Stanley was studying engineering at Georgia Tech when he was drafted into the Army during WWII. Upon returning from the War, he married his high-school sweetheart, Dubby Dreeker, began raising a family, and went into the grocery business. For many years, Stanley owned and operated Stan's Market on Kennedy Street. Subsequently, he owned and operated a larger grocery on Edgewood Avenue in Little Five Points. After retiring, and losing Dubby to brain cancer, he met and married Terry Green, with whom he was fortunate to spend his last 17 years. Stanley was innately good, kind, honest and sweet. His tender heart was apparent to all he met, and his sweetness and humor quickly made him a favorite of all who came to know him. He will be truly missed. Stanley is preceded in death by his brother, Bobby; and by Dubby, his wife of 50 years. He is survived by his second wife, Terry Green Ney; his son, Frank Ney (Mary); his daughters, Marlene Bogoslawsky (Michael) and Miriam "Mimi" Ney; grandchildren: Adam Ney, Laura Ney McAuliffe (Lucas), Scott Bogoslawsky, and Lacy Jennings (Jason); great-grandchildren, Jake and Ella Jennings; and step-children Mary Smith (Harold), Elizabeth Ann Taratoot, and Fred Erhlich. Sign online guestbook:, where shiva information may also be found. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Greenwood Cemetery, 1173 Cascade Cir. SW, Atlanta, GA 30311. In lieu of flowers, contributions to any charities supporting brain cancer research or to Feed the Children, would be welcome. Arrangements by Dressler’s Jewish Funeral Care, 770-451-4999.

Frank, Marlene and Mimi - We were so sad to hear that Uncle Stanley had passed away. He was my favorite Uncle! I still have fond memories of childhood visits to Atlanta, going to the drive in movie (where your Mom and Dad would fall asleep as soon as the show began) and the great BBQ and other drive in delights.

All of us mourn the loss of your wonderful and gentle and loving father, husband and grandfather. We remember how he spent so much time and effort for several years caring for his Uncle Herman and Uncle Ben when Jean and Alan lived far away from Atlanta. These selfless acts will never be forgotten, nor will Stanley.
