Doris Firestone(nee Matlas) 93, died 6/2/17 surrounded by family. Doris was born in Youngstown, Ohio to Morris and Yetta Matlas (Silverman). She was predeceased by her husband, Alan Firestone (died 8/26/16), 4 beloved sisters and brothers-in law, of whom she was the youngest: Lillian and Nathan Ginsberg of New Castle, PA, Jean and Manny Smith of Youngstown, Ohio, and Goldie and Sanford Gurse of Youngstown, Ohio, and Faye and Al Cook of Toledo, Ohio. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Shellie (Peter) Moisio of Cleveland, Ohio, Kathy Swartz (Richard) Swartz of Smyrna, Georgia, and Jenifer (Lou Benson) Firestone of Atlanta, Georgia.  Shellie, Kathy and Jenifer provided attentive and loving care to Doris and Alan as their health slowly declined over the last 6 years, necessitating their move from Cleveland, Ohio and Boca Raton, Florida to Atlanta. Doris also leaves 4 grandchildren, Courtney Swartz (Katherine Moskop), Justin (Amy) Moisio, Jaime Moisio, Hannah Firestone, Michael Moisio (Stephanie), as well as 3 great grandchildren, Riley, Maggie and Gabbie Moisio and a fourth due in October. Doris’ parents immigrated from Romania and Russia to Youngstown, Ohio. At one point, her family was the only Jewish family in their town, just outside of Youngstown. She graduated from Ohio State University where she met Alan. The couple moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where Doris taught elementary school until her first daughter was born. She and Alan raised their girls in University Heights, Ohio. They were charter members of Temple Emanu El and enthusiastic golfers at Lake Forest Country Club, where they had a wonderful and loving circle of friends. Doris will be buried on Tuesday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 26700 Aurora Road, Bedford Heights, OH.  Family will receive friends at the residence of Shellie and Peter Moisio, 2403 Allen Blvd., Beechwood, OH following services on Tuesday until 8:00 pm, and on Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
