  • OBITUARY:
Eileen F. Silverman of Sandy Springs, GA passed away on April 30, 2017. Eileen was born in the Bronx, NY to Anna J. and Lawrence Fields (both of blessed memory) on February 24, 1936. She moved to Atlanta with her family at the age of seven. Eileen attended and graduated from Henry Grady High School in 1953. At age 13 she met Bobby Silverman, who was then 14. They became attracted to each other immediately and five years later they married. That marriage lasted 62 plus years and the two of them had three sons. Eileen volunteered her time throughout her life to include serving as President of the Atlanta Chapter of Hadassah. An avid lover of the arts, movies, music, and literature, she was a constant inspiration for the entire family. Her astute consciousness for the greater good will never be forgotten. While she enjoyed a long career in the Real Estate business as an agent at her brother’s real estate company, Fields Realty, her greatest passion was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and best friend to so many. Eileen is survived by her husband, Bob; children: Rick and Kathi of San Bruno, CA, Cary and Judy of Atlanta, GA, and Alan and Bonnie of Marietta, GA; grandchildren: Brandon, Phillip (of blessed memory), Jeremy and Laura; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. She will be missed by all who knew her, but they will remember her forever. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Rose Stewart and Francine Shaw for their unwavering love and compassion in caring for Eileen. Sign online guestbook at www.edressler.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Phillip Michael Silverman Memorial Endowment Fund at Etz Chaim Synagogue, 1190 Indian Hills Pkwy NE, Marietta, GA 30068, www.etzchaim.net. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, with Rabbi Daniel Dorsch officiating. Arrangements by Dressler’s Jewish Funeral Care, 770-451-4999.

I was so sorry to hear of Eileen's passing and my thoughts and prayers go to the family. She was the nicest person to me. Bobby, I'm sure you know the story but I want to share with the rest of the family her thoughtfulness. Because I was with her the morning her father died, she showed her appreciation to me by sending a generous and special thoughtful gift every year at Christmas. It would be the first I received every year. When I thanked her and suggested that I had been thanked abundantly she said "Doris, I will never stop. It continued for over 40 years. I know this was Eileen and she touched many in the same way. My tears continue in abundance.

Eileen was truly loved by the Klein family. I can't really remember a time when the Silverman family was not intertwined with our family in some way. I am especially grateful that my mother always had such a dear, loving and special friend with whom she could share everything!! I will really miss calling my mother and having her tell me she has to call me back because she was talking to Eileen on the other line, as happened at least weekly for the past 25 years! Sending lots of love to the entire Silverman family!
