  • OBITUARY:
Elaine "Bubbles" Marcus, 90, of Atlanta, passed away Monday, February 13, 2017. She was an original. Elaine was the personification of the nickname given to her as a baby with her sense of humor, wit and fashion flair. Born December 7, 1926 in Kansas City to Frankie and Meyer Fingard, she left a small town to move to the big city of Chicago where she met and married Eddie Marcus and later relocated to Atlanta. Volunteerism was always an important part of Elaine's life. She took her children Ted and Linda "Jessie" with her when they were young and instilled in them the importance of service to others. Elaine served as a volunteer at The Link Counseling Center in Atlanta for over 25 years and was honored by them recently at her 90th birthday for her dedication to service. Elaine is survived by her son, Ted (Annette), and their sons, Mathew (Christin) and Andrew (Anna); and her daughter, Jessie, and her son, Dustin (Lida). Sign online guestbook at www.edressler.com. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Eddie Marcus Emergency Fund at Jewish Family and Career Services, www.jfcs-atlanta.org; or The Link Counseling Center, www.thelink.org. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Crest Lawn Memorial Park, with Rabbi Mario Karpuj and Rabbi Analia Bortz officiating. Ted and Annette: As you will recall from grade school science class, there are stars in the heaven whose light does not reach Earth until they themselves are extinguished; and, similarly, there are people who continue to light up this world long after they have passed from it. Your Mom was such a person. The stories she told, the lessons she taught, the role model she was will cause her to live on long after her passing. May the memory of your Mom be an eternal blessing to all of us who were honored and privileged to know and love her. Scott and Shelley Kaplan

Dear Teddy and Linda, I am heartbroken - I just left a message on her phone yesterday. I hope she received my last card and knew how much I loved her. Our last luncheon she said "this might be the last time we see each other girlfriend". What an honor to know her! If you want me to have Ray, I will take him. Please call me if you can: 727-724-4400.
