  • OBITUARY:
    Bernard A. Zuckerman, 91, of Atlanta, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 22, 2013. Born to Regina and Joseph Zuckerman, of Blessed Memory, in New York, NY, he served in the Army Air Force during WWII, where he flew 53 combat missions in the Pacific Theater and earned both the Silver Star and the Airmanís Medal. Bernie was a co-founder of Stratton Industries, a large carpet manufacturer. He recently endowed the Bernard A. Zuckerman Museum of Art at Kennesaw St. University (opening September 2013) where the Ruth V. Zuckerman Sculpture Pavilion will be a permanent exhibit in honor of his loving wife of 50 years, who preceded him in death in 1996. He is survived by his 2nd wife, of 15 years, Suzanne Siegel; his daughters, Rowann Gilman and Laura Bellon; and his granddaughter, Robin Bellon. An online guestbook is available at www.edressler.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kennesaw St. University Foundation, c/o the Bernard A. Zuckerman Museum of Art, 1000 Chastain Rd., Mail Drop 9101, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Greenwood Cemetery with Rabbi Neil Sandler officiating. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be announced at a later date.     Bernie was the first person I met while investigating the Borghese as a possible residence--this was in 2001. Ireally liked Bernie--he was warm, friendly, eminently likeable and a joy to be with. I offer my sincere condolences to Suzie and the family. Herb Gelbwachs
